Fun Times!

Trilby, Tasha, Kathy, and I traveled to Des Moines Saturday morning.  We spent some time shopping, had a nice leisurely lunch at....

Then we checked into the Drury Inn where we met Bud's two sisters, nieces, cousin, and friends from Pomeroy.  We dressed to go out then met for drinks and snacks before heading out.  Here is the "senior" table with the birthday girl.
We then headed to the Blue Moon.  I for one, had never seen these fish bowls.
I would never drink out of one that they pass around! Ick!
We had about 20 people in our party.
The dueling pianos were fantastic!  They could play about anything, and we had a great time!
After escorting several girls back to the motel we had pizza and visited for a while(really we were entertained by several girls who will remain nameless).  We got to bet about 2:00 a.m.  Waaaaay too late for me!  After a breakfast together this morning everyone went their separate ways.  Our carload stopped at Tanger Outlet Mall in Williamsburg where I was picked up.
Next up was the Hawkeye Wrestling Meet.  We used Travis' tickets since he was at work.  It was Clara's first Hawkeye Wrestling Meet!
I am EXHAUSTED!!  I had a good time, now I just need to recover!

Shop Til You Drop!!

Maxine Shopping
This is EXACTLY what we did this weekend.  Kathy, Trina, Trilby, and I began the weekend by shopping at VF Friday night since Trilby had an extra 30% employee discount.  We got GREAT buys, really we did!!  After a late night snack we headed home to bed.

We were up bright and early Saturday morning to head for Des Moines.  We have ladies day out to attend the big craft show at the fairgrounds each year.  Last year we centered our day around pregnant girls. (Well, just Trina that we knew of at the time.)  This year we centered some activities around babies!  Brittany stayed home to rest since Dakota hadn't been sleeping well, and we took two cars so Tasha could drop Clara off at her other grandma's for the day.

We spent several hours at the craft show, and some of us got great buys!  Then we headed for Jordan Creek Mall.  We usually eat at The CheeseCake Factory, but someone(umm....Kathy?) said she didn't really like it, so we ate at Joe's Crab Shack.  We had to find something to do while we waited so we chose to do this:
We agreed to find a new place to eat next year.  Any suggestions???

I forgot to take my camera, so we took a photo with my phone, but blogger won't load it!
We hit the mall, Target, and Wal-Mart and finally made it home about 9:00p.m.
Good company, good laughs, good buys, and good food made for a great day.
We'll do it again in 2011!!

Fabric Fun

I love shopping for fabric.  Part of the fun is just thinking about what I might use it for.  I shopped Friday night at one store and Sunday at another.  Some of the fabric is needed to finish things I have started, and some is for projects yet to come.
Looks like I was in a polka dot kind of mood.  And what would you make with these fabrics?

Shopping!

Now, I'm not really one to shop. I think I've mentioned that before. But I do on occasion like to shop, especially if a craft or fabric store is on the list to visit. Soooo, we were driving through Des Moines Friday night on our way to NW Iowa and a family event. Where would you stop to shop????

Michael's??

Hobby Lobby??

Joanne's??

A quilt store??

Well, we stopped here:

This store, mind you opened in August and this was my SECOND time in the store! Trilby, Mike, and boys were close behind us on I-80, and they hadn't been there before, so they stopped too. The boys were in awe! They were impressed by all of the animals on display--fish, buffalo, bear, wolves, ducks--you name it and it is there! The tall black bear was a favorite, although Nate was too scared to get close.

The giant aquarium with the scene above it was also a hit.

But the favorite spot was the shooting gallery.
So, a good time was had by all. But, I think I've had enough of the Bass Pro Shop for now! (Sorry, Bud)
