A Little Sewing, A Little Football, & A Little Camping

Our camping weekends will be coming to a close in just a few weeks, so we're trying to get in as much as we can. We sold our Iowa tickets today so Bud could fish and I could sew. Here's my view.

The window looks frosty, but it's not. Here's the view out the window.

It's a little chilly & breezy, but the sun is shining. I'm sewing and watching the game, (Thank you BTN) and I have a beautiful view. Bud is fishing and listening to the game. The chili is simmering in the crockpot. I'll be here for the next few hours.

Gotta love fall weekends!!!

A Cookbook

I started my married life with one of two cookbooks as my cooking "Bible". One I got as a shower gift, and really no longer use, but the other one I still use.
The section on pie making is WELL used. The pages no longer stay in the binder. I still use this recipe for my pie crust.

My kitchen looks a little different than the one in the book.

And I don't refer to it when having friends over for tea.

I couldn't find a copyright on it, but it was a shower gift to Mom who was married in 1956, so it is certainly vintage!

Sewing

Yes, I am still sewing! I tend to only post when I have a completion, and I do like to work on one thing and finish it before going on to the next thing. I read blogs where people are working on many different things at once, and I always thought that was a little crazy. Well, I am now among the crazy!

I am still working on this:

I can't work on it any more until I get some 2" Thangles. It takes a trip to the quilting store which seems hard to do even though it is in the same town where I teach.

I am also working on a block of the month. I got behind when I didn't have a machine to use. (that's another story)

I have these on my design board.

I can't quite decide what to do with these. I was planning to do a disappearing nine patch quilt, but now I'm not sure. I have enough squares to do a lap size or two baby quilts with a little sashing. Any suggestions? The fabric is Make Life by Sweetwater for Moda.

This is a quilt top that is pieced and waiting to be quilted. It is a Christmas gift. I just didn't want to clean off my table to make room to put it together just yet.

And I am also working on a quilt from this book.

I am using a jelly roll of Awesome by Sandy Gervais for Moda. I have been hoarding it for myself, and now seemed to be a good time to make something! It is full of beautiful fall colored patterns.

I hope to have some finishes soon, or I will officially go crazy!

It's a Girl Thing!

After all of the boy toys and boy fun the past 11years, we finally have some girl fun!

Don't get me wrong, I love my grandsons, but there's something about sharing the love for pretty things! Clara often comes in and shows me her nails and tells me, "pretty, Nana?". Meaning she wants her nails done. She often wants my jewelry to wear too. I found some dress up things at Dollar Tree and she had a great time with them. You can't tell in the picture, but she has lip gloss too, and we all got to share in the lovely flavor!

Meanwhile, Aela was otherwise occupied.

It won't be long before she is fighting for the jewelry and curlers!
