My Big Yellow Bowl

Do you have a dish or container that most people your age also own? Well, I think that most people my age own a big tupperware bowl in either yellow or green. In later years they changed the color I think, I'm not sure. I haven't been to a Tupperware party for MANY years, but in looking online it seems there is a similar one in orange and white and made out of a different material. It doesn't have the memories that mine has!

I received my bowl as a shower gift in 1975. I don't remember who gave it to me, but it was money well spent. Over the years it has been used for MANY batches of potato salad, rotini salad, bread dough, Christmas cookies, beer batter, and a variety of other things. I can tell my kids and my hubby to get the big yellow bowl and they know exactly which one I'm talking about! The bowl has a few melted spots where it got too close to the stove, or a hot utensil, but never melted all the way through. My name, written in black marker, is fading on the top of the lid. Putting my name on it was necessary as I have taken it to many family dinners, picnics, and high school potlucks.

So, family leave me a note about this bowl. Friends, let me know if you have an item most people your age also own.

Hi Kim!
My mother has the big yellow bowl, also with melt marks in it. I have had the hamburger press since Tupperware came out with it, still in the bottom of my cupboard and I can honestly say I've never used it!! One thing I do have that I think almost every woman I know has, is Sweatin to the Oldies. I still have it on vcr, though I now longer have one!
I tried e-mailing you and it wouldn't deliver! It said your box is full. So much to share about my trip, and yes I'm going to Kalona! My e-mail is kren@advnet.net

I remember as a kid you also made homemade hot chocolate mix in it. It was awesome to come in from playing outside in the winter or simply for a snack to have a mug of steaming hot chocolate! I have the updated version. It is white with a handle and the blue lid! I don't know what I would do with out it!

I also remember the hot cocoa mix being in the bowl, except I remember eating spoonfuls of just the mix! I'm not sure what people my age are supposed to have in the kitchen...maybe a phone book??

Well, I still can't really think of an item like the big bowl that most people my age would have. I had to laugh when I read this post because my mom does indeed have a big yellow bowl too! I guess the best I can do is to say that many of my friends and I have a lot of pampered chef (or PC knock off) items (especially the stones and the chopper) as well as kitchen aid stand mixers - that was/is a popular wedding gift. In fact, once I got mine I raved about it so much to my mom that she finally got one too (after all these years of mixing without one).

do you also have the tupperware that is opaque (either gold or orange) with a lid with an almost corrugated lid with lines coming out from the center? my mother-in-law has one and no matter where she moves, everyone always knows where to find it and what will be in it (doritos!)

i am with trilby, i have the white tupperware with a blue lid and the small handle with a hole for your thumb.

I wish I still had my bowl! Mine was green. Lynn got custody of it, just like the mixer/food processor I also still want!!!

I too have the yellow Tupperware bowl with the melt marks in the bottom. I also bought the white bowl with the blue lid. I needed two for when I do Laura Ingalls Wilder Day at school. When I got married everyone had a choice of avocado green, orange, or gold for their appliances and canisters. I chose the avocado and I think I have finally gotten rid of all the pieces- ugh!
