Saying Goodbye

After a hard fought battle, my brother-in-law, Dale, is finally at peace. He and my sister were high school sweethearts. He played football with Bud in high school, so we have known and loved Dale for most of our lives. He was the epitome of kindness. Our families enjoyed many good times together, camping, boating, fishing, hunting, celebrating, and working. Our kids grew up together even after both families moved away from our hometown.

We are so grateful that the benefit we held on Feb.19th was so successful. It allowed Kath to stay home and take care of Dale the past six weeks. We are also so very impressed with the care given by Hospice. I hope none of you are ever in the situation to need Hospice, but if you are do not hesitate to use their services. They were fantastic.

Dale put up a good fight against esophageal cancer, having surgery, radiation, chemo and more chemo. He went from a robust 285lbs. to about 150lbs. He never lost his sense of humor even at the end he was teasing Kath. But God had other plans for him. We will miss Dale every day, but we are comforted in knowing that he is no longer suffering.

I'm so sorry Kim, to know he is at peace and has no more pain will bring some comfort. I know when Dad was dieing hospice was a salvation for us. We also had the counseling afterward, which for a year kept us functioning. What a wonderful organization. God bless your sister and your family as you go through this journey together. My prayers are with you,
Laurie
