A Pink Whirly Wheels Baby Quilt

Aela was born May 13th and she had to wait until today to get her quilt! Because I've had so many problems with my sewing machine it was in the shop AGAIN! Anyway, I finally finished Aela's quilt today.

I used a jelly roll of Lilly and Will by Bunny Hill for Moda in pink and brown.

Why is it that I spend hours placing the squares to get the best look, and yet when I take a picture of it finished it never looks just right???? I even took a picture of it before I started the sashing just to be sure.
I love the super size ric rac!

Anyway, I used a pattern from Moda Bakeshop called Whirlybird Wheels Baby Quilt designed by Brandi from A Quilty Kind of Girl blog.
I took it to Aela's tonight, but someone else insisted on being in the pictures.

Even if it was just her arm!

Then she had to get her quilt out just like her little sis.

It feels good to have another finish. Now I have another that is late, plus a couple small projects that are waiting to be done. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that my machine will finally hold up.

Family Fun Times!

We sent out a text yesterday inviting everyone to our house for dinner, and lo and behold, everyone showed up!! Maddox and Aela were a handful. LOL! He weighs 11lbs, and makes Aela look really tiny.

This group hung out in the pool----a term used loosely, as it is not the pool I want! Won't I look cute with my air mattress in there this summer?! Anyway, they had squirt guns, and I have to say I ended up quite wet without going into the pool!

Clara came late since she went home to nap.

Colby hung out on various laps throughout the day. Not sure if he settled on one!

I am exhausted, but it was a good time. We so enjoy spending time with the kids and grandkids! Thanks for spending time with us!

Fudge Bars

Our "baby" turned 29 last week! Happy Birthday Trina!

Anyway, we decided to have a picnic to celebrate, so I asked Trina what she wanted me to make. She chose Fudge Bars for dessert.

These Fudge Bars are a recipe from my favorite cookbook. My kids know exactly which cookbook I'm referring to when I talk about it. It is one from a church in my hometown. Although I know most of the people who put recipes in this cookbook, I can't remember who the lady is that entered this one.

Anyway, they are rich and YUMMY!!

FUDGE BARS
1/2 c. shortening 2 c. oatmeal
1/2 tsp vanilla. 1/2 tsp salt
1 c. brown sugar 1/2 tsp soda
3/4 c. flour. 1 egg

Combine, save one cup and press the rest into 8 x 10 pan.

1 pkg chocolate chips. 1tsp vanilla
1 Tblsp butter. 1/2 c. Nuts
1 c. Sweetened condensed milk

Heat until chips are melted and pour over crust. Sprinkle 1 cup of crumbs over the mixture and bake 25 minutes at 350.

Cool and enjoy!

A New Granddaughter!

We are happy to announce the arrival of our newest grandchild. Aela Faith was born on May 13th at 11:53 p.m. She weighed 6 lbs. and was 21" long.

We took big sister, Clara, up to see her tonight. Clara was very pleased with her.

They are now a happy family of four!

This makes seven grandsons and two granddaughters for us, and we couldn't be happier!

Cael's First Communion

Our second grandson, Cael, received his First Communion yesterday.

After Mass we celebrated with dinner at Trilby and Mike's. All of our children and grandchildren were there except for Travis who had to work. It was a nice day spent enjoying one another's company.

We were very proud of Cael for learning all of the required prayers. He may have had a little extra encouragement since his mom was one of the teachers! We are proud of Trilby for carving time out of her busy schedule of working two jobs, running the boys and a household, to teach First Communion kids.

These are my favorite days!
