Family Time!

Since we are going to Texas for Easter we had our family celebration early.  We had everyone here except Mike who was home taking care of his sheep who are in the middle of lambing. We decided to keep it simple and let the kids off the hook for cooking this year.  So, I made all of the main dish, brownies, and cookies.  The local Amish bakery made the pies.  YUM!  I didn't even use all of the good dishes or put a centerpiece on the table.  And....we used paper napkins.  Yup, we were casual.
After dinner we had our usual Easter egg hunt.

Nate looked for his color--purple.
Grayson liked the chocolate as evidenced by his face!
Chance had his binoculars along for help spotting those eggs!
Clara was the resident "bag lady".
WELL, I CAN'T UPLOAD ANY MORE PHOTOS!! I'VE BEEN TRYING ALL WEEK, AND I JUST GET THE MESSAGE THAT MY PICASA ALBUM IS FULL, AND I NEED TO BUY MORE SPACE.  REALLY? I DIDN'T EVEN KNOW I WAS USING A PICASA ALBUM.  CAN ANYONE HELP ME OUT WITH THIS PROBLEM.

Broccoli Shrimp Pasta Toss

As I was making supper tonight I realized I hadn't posted a recipe in quite some time. Tonight's supper is a favorite of mine-- yummy & easy to make!

Broccoli Shrimp Pasta Toss

2 cups uncooked bow tie pasta
1/4 cup chopped onion
3 garlic cloves, minced
1Tblsp butter or stick margarine
1Tblsp olive oil
2 cups fresh broccoli
1/4 tsp salt
8ounces medium shrimp, peeled and deveined
1/4 cup Parmesan cheese

Cook pasta according to directions. In a large nonstick skillet, sauté onion and garlic in butter and olive oil. Add broccoli and salt; cook and stir over medium high heat for eight minutes. Add shrimp; cook and stir 2-3 minutes longer or until shrimp turns pink, and broccoli is tender.

Drain pasta; transfer to a serving bowl. Add broccoli mixture; toss gently. Sprinkle with Parmesan cheese.

Another IH Baby Quilt

My niece had her first baby in January.  She named him Graham which was my maiden name. (Her's too!)  I love, love, love his name!  Of course I had to make him a quilt.
His daddy is a huge IH (International Harvester) fan, so I had to use some of that fabric again.
I put his initial in the corner.
I meandered the entire quilt.
Since the baby lives in Texas I haven't gotten to see him yet, but I hope to soon!

Sleepover at Nana's

Chance needed a break from his parents, so we decided to have a sleepover. He wanted his cousins to join him, but everyone was busy except Cael and Nate. We had a yummy snack.

Played some games, Legos, tractors, farming, shot some hoops, army, just to name a few.

Had yummy pizza for supper

and Grandpa's famous popcorn.

Watched a couple of movie--Chuggington, Barnyard, and some pirate thing to name a few!

Then settled down for the night. They decided sleeping bags on the family room floor sounded better than beds. By then they were TIRED! But not nearly as tired as Nana and Grandpa!!

I got to sleep(used loosely) down with the boys while grandpa snuggled up in his bed. I think Nana's going to need a nap today!

A New Table Topper

If you read my blog regularly you will remember that in November we went to Dallas for the NASCAR race and stayed in the camper with my brother and sister-in-law.  As a thank you to my sister-in-law I made her  this table topper.  The pattern is quartered nines.
I used a Moda Charm Pack, but I can't remember the name of it!  And a Kona (some type of brown) for the border.  And I found a flowered fabric at JoAnn's that I liked to go with it for the border and back.

I free motion quilted the inside and the outer border.
It is quite large, but I forgot to measure it!  I hope Gay enjoys it.

Friday the 24th was my birthday, and Mother Nature provided me with this:
Which led to a 2 hour late start at school.  Ahhhhh.....two extra hours to enjoy my coffee!
Bud had taken the day off to baby-sit with Clara who didn't have daycare that day.  She showed up about 7:30.  She "helped" me get ready for school.  She needed make-up.  And who couldn't resist "Please, please, please" when I was putting on my jewelry!  So here she is all ready for her day necklace and all!
She was VERY pleased with herself in case you can't tell!  This is her "Say, Cheese" face.
After a good day at school I joined some friends for a little celebration.  All of us in the back row had a birthday in January or February.  Thanks for a nice time, Phyllis!
I finished up the evening with dinner out at Red Lobster, my favorite restaurant.  The lobster was YUMMY!  Life is good!
